Another beautiful day in Washington DC - met fastboy Aaron during lunchtime at the C&O Canal for a 6-mile "fast" (for me) run to Fletcher's Boathouse and back to work. Thanks for slowing down for me Aaron!

It's interesting how until now I've always liked running on my own for the most part - but now that I want to get faster, running with faster people makes it easier to pick up the pace a little. When I run alone it's easier to slack off and get lazier.

A friend of mine and fantastic triathlete pointed out that the 2009 Boston maration is number 113th - 13 is my lucky number!!!

Now I'm ready, I think, for a 14-mile run tomorrow to the bicycle store in Alexandria to pick up the book I'll need for the course on bicycle maintenance I'll be taking. Some days I love not having a car! Makes me think more, plan better, and take advantage of my time better.

Shins not hurting right now - followed Barry's advice and took 600 mg Ibuprofen this morning... Thanks Barry!

I am glad I can help. I went to the doctor this morning for an x-ray to see if I had a hair line fracture on my shin. But on thing the doctor told me that was some good advice was to buy some paper dixie cups and fill them with water then freeze them for icing your shins. And as you are icing your leg tear off the paper and with some pressure ice the shins for about ten minutes. I am not sure how you are icing, but I though that was a really good idea. I hope this helps.
