Another fantastic run - felt great this morning after that 14 miler yesterday and lots of stretching, so I metroed to Friendship Heights to meet my friend Ashley, who just won an entry for the Marine Corps; this will be her first marathon! We did 7 beautiful and a little muddy miles on the trails of Rock Creek Park, and back up on the National Zoo (that zoo hill is a killer!). Then she metroed back home and I decided I'd try to run home. So I did! Some more trails, up by my office (boy, I wish I had brought my office key so I could get water there!) and then the semi-long way home on the mall (sooooo busy!) and up Capitol Hill and down Pennsylvania. It is really humid here, we got a little rain, temperature is about 81 degrees. I have to say I'm really tired, but my legs don't hurt, thank goodness, and I'm very proud of myself! We stopped at a lot of water fountains and I had a gel just after mile 8, that seems to be where I start boinking...

Next week I have to focus on doing at least one day of speed work or hill repeats...

Wow, 65 miles this week - great job, Lucia! If you can keep this up and stay healthy. you will run a great marathon. Are you planning any races soon, to see where you are now? Do you have your tune-up half scheduled yet? Never mind, just saw your race schedule in the left pane.

Thanks Maria! Yes, I'm hoping my next 1/2 will tell me where I stand... I'm a bit worried because though I'm doing well mileage-wise, I lack speed... so I need to start doing more of that.

Lucia, great job on the high mileage! I think you will do better than you expect at your half. I came within one minute of my half PR last winter while running only easy mileage (35-45 miles per week). I bet you will set a PR. Definitely take a rest day tomorrow-you have earned it!

Hey - thanks for the comments on my blog- now on to you... YOU ARE ON FIRE!! You rock! I am so impressed and inspired! I am doing Riley's Rumble, so maybe we can make a point to say hello before or after. You rock, Lucia! I can not wait for the days when I can say that I run 60 mpw. I am finding it difficult to really build up mileage - but I think it is cool how you incorporate it into your lifestyle- like running home from friend's houses etc. Talk to you soon! Jill
