Biked to work, after work went to the gym for 1 hour on the elliptical, and on my way home I figured what the heck, I'm going to the swimming pool... I swam for 30 minutes, then I was aqua jogging and this guy came and asked me if I believed in coincidences - He was the same guy who was swimming in my lane a few weeks ago, and at one point stopped and said "keep your center of gravity up, so that your legs kick higher up"... I thanked him, as I'm always looking for feedback to be better, since I feel so clumsy when I swim. So yesterday, he told me he had used me as an example with his employees as he was coaching them, sort-of a "pay it forward" thing, how sometimes just being nice to people and helping them for no reason pays off. Anyway, we got to talking and it turns out, he lived in Buenos Aires for a few years, a long time ago. It's nice to make new friends in the pool! After that, I biked home. Went to bed pretty late but got some good sleep that I really needed.

12 days people! I want to start the song "The 12 days of running": here's the first verse - you have to help me over the next few days...

On the 12th day of running,
the bloggers said to me,
slow down, don't re-injure your shins!

On the 12th day back to running, marion said to me- "some guy at the pool has the hots for you" :D

From Lucia on Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 14:20:03

LOL, Marion, I wish!!! I'm pretty sure he plays for the other team, if you know what I mean!

From marion on Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 14:51:24

Oh CRAP!!! Are you sure? I mean was he making out with some guy or wearing a leapord print thong? I would hate that. Question #1 is he cute, #2 is he nice #3 is he single(maybe this is #1) #4 is he straight! DAting in the 80's was easier cause everyone was still in the closet! Well maybe not!

From Lucia on Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 14:57:10

Hahahaha! I'd say #1, is he single, #2, is he straight, #3, is he nice, and #4 is he cute. Dating times are difficult, but I'm not willing to go with the wrong answers to #1 or #2 quite yet ;)

From marion on Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 15:03:40

You are right! Never date an attaced man or a gay man. Your heart will be broken SPLAT! #3 is the MOST important! You can put up will all kinds of "crap" is he is kind. Actually you don't have much to deal with when they are kind and nice because being nice wipes out most of the garbage.

Hehehe...Lucia and Marion..you two are quite amusing. Here you go...

On the 12th day of running,

My friend Ben Crozier one time wrote the 12 Days of Running With Sasha. Sarah and I responded with 12 Days of Running With Ben. It was quite entertaining.

From Lucia on Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 23:04:13

Ohhhh and here I am thinking I'm soooo original! :)

What dates did this take place, Sasha, so we can look it up on your blogs and copy them... I mean, get ideas...?

From Sasha Pachev on Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 23:13:05

P.S. Ben was still single last time I checked (a couple of months ago), and he was 17 when I was 20, so he must be 32 now. He served a mission in Argentina and speaks Spanish fluently. In fact, I learned from him quite a bit by asking him not to speak any English to me while we ran. About the first phrase I had to learn to communicate functionally was "Tengo que usar el baño, te voy a alcanzar" Eventually he honored me with the title "El Santo del los Baños" If you are interested, I can send you his phone number.

From Lucia on Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 23:20:43

I am laughing so hard right now, and blushing too... I'll call him up and say "Hello, I'm calling on behalf of the bathroom saint, would you like to go on a date with me?"

From marion on Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 23:22:55

Hey that sounds like the perfect line!!! go for it Lucia!

From Walter on Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 23:34:21

Holy crap, I wish I didnt check this so late tonight because Im thoroughly amuzed! If your gay buddy tells you to get your butt up while your swimming, its not a good thing! lol

Jill, whaaaat the heeeck? lol

Aaron, there you go! That sounds sensible!

Sasha, Im guessing your looking for the toilet right? lol

Lucia, that is the most original line Ive ever heard, Go for it!

From Aaron-PSU on Thu, Sep 25, 2008 at 09:17:29

I love how everyone is trying to play matchmaker for Lucia. Amusing...very amusing.

Lucia, You can borrow Pepper if you want. His cuteness + personality = magnet for cool people! Better hurry though..he may be moving out west sooner than later!

I wish I recorded it, but I was not keeping a detailed blog at that time. However, here are some of the days:

First was - Ben, you are going too slow. Afterwards, not necessarily in order:

I need to water a tree.

Let's do an acceleration.

I'll pick you up at seven.

Five mile tempo.

Ben, why aren't you married?

Five mile repeats.

Let's run in the canyon. (We ran in the Provo Canyon almost every day.)

No apostate running! (in reference to Ben's tendency to run on unmeasured trails at 8:00 pace or slower, but count the distance as if he had run it at 7:00 pace.)

Woo-oohhhh! (The noise I used to make to warn others that I was going to pick up the pace.)

Some of the lines of the response:

The first one was - Sasha, you are going too fast. Others:

This is too early.

My legs are hurting.

Girls don't want to date me.

Let's run on a trail.

If you could make money as a run up comedian, Ben would do this full time, and he would make millions. I never had problems with neural fatigue when I trained with him.

From Lucia on Fri, Sep 26, 2008 at 23:24:58

That is hilarious, Sasha! Sounds like you had some fun times training. I take it this Ben character is not on the blog?
