Biked to work, went to the gym for 1 hour after work, and biked home. Did 45 min elliptical and 15 min bike, doing intervals of 2 min at max effort every 10 minutes... my heart rate was around 140 in the lower effort part and got over 190 at max effort, so it seems to me I haven't lost much fitness quite yet.

Nice riding! It is awesome that you can get all that done. Cross training is HARD to get in. You really get to appreciate how much can be done by just running.

How many days until I have to come up with a good program for you? Actually if you have a good program for training for a marathon, I can help with a few things to help you with it. Let me know.

Looks like all your cross training has paid off. Your fitness level is great! Once you get the OK to run again you are going to be unstoppable!

Wall-e, 17 long days! I'm getting a massage on Monday (first professional massage ever!) with a guy who is also a coach and said he can help me plan my return to running, but I'd like to get more than one opinion if you don't mind giving me your thoughts. I've been reading about it and it seems that for about 2 weeks I should run every other day, 3-4 miles, and cross-train the rest of the time, increasing mileage slowly for two more weeks, and start running every day after that. That would mean peak training would be the last week of November to the first three weeks of December, and then taper until January 18 for the big dance! Any thoughts?

You know after my rehab on a nasty Achilles injury I was told by the therapist to just do 10 minutes. Then up my minutes by 1 every day. That seemed to be so slow but dont worry about your miles just your minutes. In fact keep your garmin at home and just use a stop watch. As soon as you are up to 30 minutes then you can start your training. Believe it or not, I started running 2 weeks before a marathon and made it up to close to 30 minutes and then ran the marathon. I was crazy but I did that 3 years ago. Dont push speed until you have a good base of miles. Cross training will keep your fracture at ease too. By the time you read this you'll have 16 days left. See how easy this is!? lol Cheers
