Day 2 of focusing on nutrition went well. I got some wraps, spinach, tomatoes, hummus and tofu and made wraps both days for lunch, and have leftover for the rest of the week. Snacked on some clementines in the afternoon and made some quesadillas at home.

Biked to work, 5 miles, then after work I biked to the bike shop (16 miles) to take my ride for a few days at the spa (meaning, my bike is getting a tune-up). Then fast-walked the 2.5 miles from the bike shop to the metro and went home - it was pouring when I got home, I got so wet, and I have some leaks in my roof in my room. Ughhhh...

Weight: 147. I cannot believe I'm in the 140s again. It is terrible.

On the 6th day till running
the bike shop said to me
you need to take better care of your bike
You've been riding it a lot more than you used to
and it's really suffering a whole lot

Yeah- your down from yesterday! Great news! Your wraps sound divine!

I think the bike shop guys are NUTS! It's a bike, use and abuse!!! :) Are you all better from your crash?

On the sixth day of running Lucia... is just the coolest most beautiful runner I know and I am so excited that you get to run NEXT WEEK!!! When is your appointment!??

From Lucia on Wed, Oct 01, 2008 at 11:31:35

Hahahah Marion you know how to make me smile!

Appointment is Monday Oct 6 at 9 am! Can't wait!

My knee hasn't scabbed over yet, it's all covered with disgusting puss... yuck! Any idea what's the best way to make it heal? Should I let it dry out in the air, or keep it moist with Neosporin, cover it with bandages? I don't want to go to the pool with that disgusting wound!

From marion on Wed, Oct 01, 2008 at 11:37:18

Ooooo YUCK! Anytime it can be aired out is the best. If you are laying around- go for it, let it dry out as much as possible. But when you are out and about or sleeping, Neosporin and bandaged is the best thing. It's the best of both worlds :) If it is not scabbed over, you sould not go to the pool. No open wounds in public waters, although enough chlorine is drying and sanitizing. No baths either. Infection does not like dry and clean.

Oooo you poor dear!!!

From Bonnie on Wed, Oct 01, 2008 at 12:44:19

Lucia!! I won't be around to see your first run back -- I am very excited for you! Take it easy the first couple of weeks (please) ... 30-40 mins (no more) at a time.

I can't wait to see how you are doing by the time I get back!

The pounds will melt off in no time!

From Kelli on Wed, Oct 01, 2008 at 13:40:19

Oh no---tracking weight loss!!! I hate that (for me, not for you). Good luck with that.

Okay, so I really like hummus but I have never tried tofu. Is it any good? What does it taste like? I am more for throwing some ham and turkey on the roll up---but am open to new things!

From Kelli on Wed, Oct 01, 2008 at 13:40:53

Oh, and by the way, I live in the 140's, it is not such a bad place to be (unless you are like 4 feet tall, I guess!)

From Lucia on Wed, Oct 01, 2008 at 13:45:06

Kelly, health food stores typically sell "baked tofu" that's already marinated and ready to eat, you chop it up and use it just like chicken or sandwich meat, it's great and very tasty, you should try it out - tofu itself tastes like nothing, that's why you have to fry it or marinate it and cook it with something to give it some taste.

I'm almost 5'8"... I was doing so well losing a few pounds before my injury, it's nerve-wrecking, but what really matters is to be fit, right? I love passing the super-skinny girls on the trails :)

From Kelli on Wed, Oct 01, 2008 at 18:31:48

5' 8" and 147 is super skinny! BUT, I know what you mean about wanting to lose. I go up and down so consistently it is almost aggravating. Bet, hey, I am a well-tuned yo-yo!

Okay, next time I head out to stock up on my health food store stuff (the closest one is still a 20 minute drive) I am going to get some nummy tofu and try it out.

Lucia, its just baby fat! You'll burn it up once you quit crawling and learn how to walk and run! lol No offense
