Feeling better today, but have a rash in my stomach and back. Crazy how a little insect sting can affect such a big person so much!

Biked to work and back, spent 1 hour in the pool, 30 min swimming, 30 min aqua jogging. I don't use the belt at all any more ;)

26 days!!!

I've been thinking of which race to run. I'm in between the California International Marathon in Sacramento, the Las Vegas Marathon, and the PF Chang marathon in Phoenix. My idea is to attept at either CIM or LVM (both December 7), and then if I can't qualify then, I still have 5 weeks till Phoenix... I heard the LVM is hilly, while the CIM is flat and has a high percentage of Boston-qualifiers... while Sacramento is not a city that excites me much, I do have friends there and it's not far from the California mountains and fun areas... Something to look forward to!

Sacramento is really close to the most wonderful mountians! I love the Sierra Nevada range. If you can, plan to visit Lake Tahoe. It is UNREAL! We go there about ever other summer. We just love it. If you flew into Sacramento Airport, you could fly out of Reno. I grew up in California. My best friend lives in Sacramento. Next year, I'll run it with you :)

Have you taken an allergy pill for the rash? You need some benadryl or something. REally. Paranoid mom is coming out! WAtch out!!1 SHes NUTS!!!

I highly recommend CIM! That is where I qualified for the first time. It is actually midly downhill, not flat. Weather is usually good for marathoning, and the crowds are not too bad (at least when I ran it in 2000). You can see race elevation profile on their website, but what you read is true, lots of BQs there. Also, lots to see around, as Marion mentioned.

Hey I dont want to smash your hopes for a pr but heres my suggestion. Run a half marathon at either of the two if they have them and then do R&R Arizona for a marathon pr. Or if you feel ready enough to do two marathons in 1 month period then go for it. I will probably be on the mend for R&R to help you pr or I may even be ready to run in Dec. but I doubt it. I have to have 6 weeks of recovery from my end of October surgeries. I know Arizona is a flat course and quick. 3:40 material for sure. you will have to see how you feel, just dont rush yourself from what youve gone through. You will split that thing wide open if you push it. Misty got one on top of her foot in October of 2005, let it heal then trained and ran october of last year and it opened right back up. She had to be casted and have a boot all winter. Now she is slowly getting back and she says every long run she does, there is some pain there. Not good! Be Carefull.

Wall-e: I'm thinking of CIM as a first attempt. That way, if I can't BQ then, I still have 5 weeks more to get faster and run Phoenix. And if I BQ at CIM, I can run Phoenix as a celebratory run! If I'm back to running October 6, I'll have 2 months before CIM... I'm thinking 2 weeks to get back to full-time running, 3 weeks of peak training, and 3 weeks of taper... What do you think, coach?

From walter on Wed, Sep 10, 2008 at 22:10:22

I think your a wild and wacky kid! Just remember to listen to your body. Every run you do to prepare yourself is worthy if it doesnt hurt you or give pain! Gosh I read this after I type and am amazed at how simple my logic is. lol You should plan on St. George next year and maybe even some others. Are you going to run Boston next year if you qualify?

From Lucia on Wed, Sep 10, 2008 at 22:21:05

Well, Wall-e, the thing is, my stress fracture didn't really hurt much at all! So I was listening to my body, but maybe my body wasn't talking to me loud enough... Yes I'll run Boston if I qualify. It's the 113th Boston, and 13 is my lucky number, so I have to! St. George is definitely a possibility - "some others" not so sure...

From Walter on Thu, Sep 11, 2008 at 00:19:39

Ok Lucia, you definitely know your body more than me thats for sure, thats why when we give you advice to take the parts that you know will help you and ignore politely the others. lol Ive done 2 Boston marathons, one in the 3000 category and the other in the 1000 category. Big difference! Its like starting at the front of a local marathon vs. the back. But I had a blast in both of them. They each had their challenges. Running to catch the faster guys and running from the others or in my case the cops! (Ill tell you the story later unless youve already heard.) See ya

Lucia, don't listen to him; he is nuts!! Kidding. I think you will know, Lucia, soon after you start up how the leg is. Go for the easier of the 2- the CIM - I would think that a hilly course would also not be good as you start back up. You are rockin' it- and I love that you are planning all this now- good motivation. See you soon. Can U do lunch one day next week? Sorry this week has been nuts!
