GREAT run with Ashley this morning! Not as hot as it's been, about 77 when we started. I biked from home to Roosevelt Island (6 miles) to meet with Ashley, and we ran on the island, then the Mt. Vernon trail, across the Memorial Bridge, down to Haines Point and back around, back to Roosevelt Island - got some gu and went back out to the Key Bridge, down the Rock Creek Parkway, across the Memorial Bridge and back to the island again. First loop was 11 miles, second loop was 4, then I did 2 more after Ash was gone. I think it was a good run for many reasons: first, it wasn't as hot; second, I had my Nathan pack with water and 3 tablets of Nuun (electrolytes), and I was drinking the entire way. Third, Ashley is a lot slower than me so I had to slow down for her which was good. Fourth, I had some shot blocks around 1 hour after the start, and some jelly beans after another hour. It seemed like the perfect combination. The only thing that didn't go as well was my need to use the bathroom 2 times during the run. I need to figure out what to eat the night before to make sure that doesn't happen during the race...

After the run, I biked 6 miles home. Total for the weekend: 26 miles of running and 37 miles of biking.

I forgot to mention my morning weight today: 138 lbs! Three more and I'll feel pretty good already. Then 7 more after that and I'll be at my ideal weight. I can do it! I've been reading Marion's blog and it's really inspiring. The blog helps a lot too!

I am sitting here in SHOCK and AWE! Your mileage ROCKS! I can imagine all of the places you are running. I spend a lot of time convincing myself I am not jealous! I may lose the battle!

Great weight! You are smokin' all around!

I love your combination of replenishments. I had never thought of combining them like that. Are the Nunn tablets at a running store, maybe?

WAY TO GO!!! YOU ARE ON TOP OF THE WORLD!!!

Great job on the running and weight loss!! How are the shins doing? I have been doing the pre and post work out for shins and it is really helping a lot. Are you feeling better when you are running? I also know a running trainer if you are interested?

Wow, what a weekend of physical activity. Keep it up and you will continue to improve and be ready for your goal race at MCM.

Marion, you are the best cheerleader ever! Thanks for the encouragement!

Barry, the shins are doing really well - my doctor ordered a bone scan which I'm having this week; I'll keep you posted.

Jeff, I hope you are right! With such little time left to train, I'm starting to freak out...

A great long run and weight loss-it doesn't get any better than that!

Glad the fueling went well. One thing to keep in mind is that you will be working a lot harder in the race and will use up your fuel more quickly, so you probably won't need to take a bathroom break. Just make sure you go before the race, and DON'T drink too much water before a race!...If it's the other, just keep experimenting with your food and fuel.
