Hellowwww everybody,

I had my follow-up appointment with the surgeon this morning. The good news is, the bone is healing well. The bad news is, the wires have to stay on for three more weeks, so 4 weeks total... probably... he didn't want to give me hope but I could tell that if all goes well, he may be taking them off earlier. But, as long as they help me heal better, I don't mind having them on. He said he rather not have me running and biking outside, that he doesn't want me to fall... so he suggested I do stationary bike and maybe some treadmill... we'll see, maybe in a few weeks I'll still go outside and just be very careful. I rarely fall during running anyway.

Here are some pics of our beautiful Jillzo during the race, and of yours truly cheering on the runners:

Bummer about the 4 weeks, but great about the healing. Bummer about the "no outside" but GREAT about the stationary bike and treadmill. (I am more likley to fall off of the treadmill than outside.) Just my two cents!

Lucia- you're HOT in purple! ;D

From Lucia on Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 15:32:55

Marion, that's exactly what I'm thinking too, more likely to fall on a treadmill!!!

From Kelli on Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 20:31:00

Oh, man! That is along time!! So Sorry. Is it just a pain in the butt to keep your mouth shut? Can you talk at all?? You need to go to some smoothie joint every day and get a different kind for each meal. Maybe they make a lasagna one??

Great pictures of the race, too!

From Lucia on Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 20:37:33

Yeah, those kind of candy smoothies are dangerous, Marion! I have to be good and eat lots of fruits and veggies... even though it takes me forever to drink them, cause even the smallest bits and seeds get all over my teeth and block any liquid from coming in, so ever few sips I have to wipe out the stuff that blocks it and then I can drink again. It's a slow process!

Kelli, I can talk a little but it's hard to understand me. Thank goodness I don't have to talk for my job! Yes, I need to get some good smoothie mix with lots of vitamins and proteins and fiber. It really isn't as bad as it seems. I already love fruit smoothies and soups anyway. The race was really great - you guys should come out for it next year!

From Kelli on Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 21:09:47

I would be totally fine with the eating, it would be the NOT talking that would do me in! I am a TALKER!!! But, I guess in this day and age it is no big deal---you have the computer and texting!

I did not think about the inside of your mouth and teeth! That is an interesting dilemma. You will need a good teeth cleaning when it is all over!

From Lucia on Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 21:21:25

I'd like to think I'm not a big talker, but probably some people will disagree :) I'm a bit of an introvert so yes, e-mail and texting is my preferred communication method anyways! I already have an accent, so between that and the mouth shut, well, let's just say it's not a good combination! :)

From marion on Mon, Oct 27, 2008 at 22:34:35

I wonder if your teeth will hurt when you eat again?

From walter on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 09:02:45

Lucia, I can see your jaw is healing and the swelling is subsiding! I was wondering who was in the wig? jk funny! Great for you to support out there! Remember thats on my list of 12 recovery tips you know!? It helps you be a better person and runner!

From Lucia on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 09:05:35

Marion, I'm wondering if my teeth will be all dead... I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, I guess...

Wall-e, yes, thankfully I'm healing. Of course I had to be there to support the runners! I wonder what they thought too - this crazy-looking girl with a scar and a purple wig and a cowbell that didn't open her mouth, I just looked at the runners that looked at me on the eye and waved and jiggled the cowbell pointing at them... too funny!

I cheered a bunch of my friends into the SGM finish and I dont think they knew who was yelling there name! They all had that look of please let me finish on their faces!

From Kelli on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 12:22:13

BULL Walter! I totally knew who you were, and i smiled and waved back!

From Lucia on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 12:25:49

hahaha! I have a feeling EVERYONE knows who you are, Wall-e!!!

From walter on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 12:49:38

Ok except for Kelli.

From Kelli on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 13:26:38

THANK YOU!! It was hard to recognize Walter as he was all bundled up in warm clothes.

From walter on Wed, Oct 29, 2008 at 00:49:39

They were warm clothes that quickly turned to wet and soggy ones! uggh!

From luzylew on Wed, Oct 29, 2008 at 11:05:51

I just read about your accident. I can not believe how much you have been through in the past few months. YOu're so tenacious though, it's inspiring. Thank you for keeping up the blog and letting us share in your energy. I can't believe how funny the wigs and cowbell....you've got spirit!

From jill on Wed, Oct 29, 2008 at 20:47:29

hey girl... are you riding your bike around, or are you nervous to get back in the saddle? Talk soon...please eat something!!! :o)

From Lucia on Wed, Oct 29, 2008 at 20:57:09

Jilly-oh, where is your MCM race report, girl?

I haven't biked since the accident... the doctor told me not to for about one more week - if I fall off now, my jaw is so weak it would be really bad. If I wait till it's a little stronger, I can fall and hit it (if it's not a really bad fall) and still be ok... but of course, statistically, what are the chances of me having ANOTHER bicycle accident now???

From walter on Wed, Oct 29, 2008 at 22:22:32

Lucia, I wouldnt press the odds with your luck and Im not the one with any luck either but I know when your down theres no where to go but up baby! I will be there in a few hours!
