Hottest and most humid day EVER!  Volunteered in the morning for the Parks half marathon - had to get up at 5:30 to walk my neighbor's dog and drive to the water stop, close to Bethesda. I was on water stop at mile 10.5, and the runners came up this long hill and they all wanted 3-4 cups of water! We thought we had plenty, so we didn't ration... then we realized we were running out of cups! How horrible!!! We had pitchers and plenty of water, and the runners coming by at that point were walking, so we gave each one cup that we refilled as much as they wanted. A few minutes later a biker brought us more cup, thank goodness. I got to see local elite runner and holder of some American records Mike Wardian - I hope he likes it when people recognize him and cheer him on, I don't want him to find me annoying! We cleaned up the place quickly, and I was on my way home. Gave the dog another long walk and went off to bike on the C&O Canal to Carderock to meet a friend and hike the Billy Goat Trail. I'm the queen of that trail. I have yet to meet another hiker that can do it faster than I can :) hehehe... Aaron, Jill, any of you want to take a stab? :)

Biked home after that, for a total of about 6 fast hiking miles and 20 fast biking miles.

yeah! You are such a trooper! Ooo I'd hate to face the runners with NO CUPS! They'd... I dunno what they'd do!

Way to volunteer, these races could not come off without folks like you!

Great job Lucia. Sounds like you had a great time and avoided a potential cup-catastrophe.

I may have to take you up on the Bill Goat Trail...as you know, I'm quite speedy!

Lucia- I am going to philly this weekend to run the 1/2 there. Very excited and nervous and excited and excited. Not sure how I will do, but can't wait! Last Sunday - on this hellish hot humid day, I hiked Old Rag. Maybe we can do that in the fall.. I did speed hiking with 2 of my cycling buddies. Super fun- and felt it in my legs till wednesday! I would love to do billy goat w/ you! Let's push the pace and rock it! Hopefully see you next week for lunch - would love it if we can get togther again soon. Jill
