Lunch run from office, 4.1 easy miles with Mike, out the C&O canal, cross Key bridge, then on Mt. Vernon trail, cross the Memorial Bridge, back to office, then I did a little more around Georgetown. Went out really easy cause Mike isn't in great shape - had good conversation with Mike about training for our upcoming 10k that we're all doing with a bunch of people from the office, and about his twins, and about his weight loss success! The guy lost 60 lbs., starting by biking 10 miles to work every day and back, as soon as his wife found out she was pregnant. Very moving. He's younger than me but more inexperienced as a runner, so I feel I have some stuff to teach him (like not to run too fast or too far too soon, stretching techniques, etc.), a lot of things I learned from other more experienced runners on this blog too! Now I'm off to the beach for the weekend - looking forward to doing some barefoot running on the sand, but not too much. A few years ago I got tendonitis that way... I'm planning on trading barefoot beach running with trail running.

To any St. George runner that reads this, what do you guys do to run in the summer? Do you still run outside when it's super hot, or do you use treadmills? Here in DC it can get quite hot and humid, but typically I manage to run outside no matter what. Some don't think it's healthy, not only because of the heat but also the pollution levels...

I don't live in SG. but it get really hot hear as well. I think your body can addapt to anything if you just work into it. When I run in really hot conditions I make sure I have water. I try to run early in the summer.

Hey! I just linked here from Josse's blog- nice to meet you! Great running pic of you! I wish I looked that good in a race! I can answer your SG question- I try to run before 8am, (6am is ideal) but occasionally I am lazy and have to get out later. When I do go out later I HAVE to carry water and drink through out the run. Good luck with your training and school- you are a go getter!
