Ohhhh yes, for once I was able to count my laps of pool jogging, up until 16 laps, that makes 1,600 meters which is indeed one mile!  I was in the pool for 2 hours after work, one hour swimming and one hour aqua jogging, most of it without the belt. Why does that sound like an addiction? "Hi, my name is Lucia and I'm an aqua jogger" :)

Also biked to work and back, and to the pool and back, 11 miles. It was HOT out today!

Hello aqua jogger! My name is Fartlek! lol ok sorry for making fun, you have called me some crazy names though! 33 actually 32 now in your time zone! so cool you just took off 2 days!

From marion on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 14:14:05

Hello Aqua Jogger, my name is Pokey, you know the orange red horse that belongs to Gumby? Well, he doesn't "belong" to Gumby, he can't, he is a "being" of significant importance and being "owned" would diminish his beingness. :) PETA, PETA, PETA! Ok, Gumby is Pokey's pet parent, actually I can't remember the newest PC term for a pet and it's owner, I mean care giver.

Very nice run and maybe we need a 12 step for the injured! I need a 12 step for most every aspect of my life! I think I need more of a 20 step program. I am special, you know! ;D

Have a GREAT day :)

I diddn't mean run run , I meant "aqua jog" and lap swim :) I am SO confused!!!! AAAAAAggggggHHHHHH!!!!

From Lucia on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 14:20:25

Hahahaha! It's OK, Marion, I knew what you meant :)

Walter is working on the 12-steps, actually! here's what we got so far:

1. Drink a recovery beverage of your choice and do the robot dance.

2. Learn to do something new that you didn’t have time to do before (in my case, swim)

3. Listen to Neil Diamond’s “Hello my friend hello” and watch a little TV

4. Focus on getting enough calcium, good nutrition, and “keep your mind set away from the pain that ales you”

5. IT COULD BE WORSE ATTITUDE! “I’m grateful for my little stress fracture, now I can give my body the rest it’s been nagging me to give it”.

6. Volunteer at races to support fellow runners

7. Listen to motivating music, watch motivating movies, read motivating books

8. Go to an 80’s one-hit-wonder bands concert!

9. Watch the Olympic games or other sporting events related to your running and concentrate on their form, how they take breaks, how they hydrate, even how they prepare for the event. etc.

Now we need 3 more! Any ideas?

hummmm...I am going to work on that one and get back to you. Hummmmmm....

From jtshad on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 14:33:09

Good job on the aqua jogging, have you grown your gills yet?

Are you looking for serious or funny steps? I will work on both and get back with you.

I like your number 4, especially the "ales" part as ales tend to put me in pain too (but not as bad as stouts). But they are good recovering from what "ails" me! :-)

From Lucia on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 14:36:08

Hahahaha! I should know not to trust Walter's spelling! Now if you could only get our good old Barry to write "sore" instead of "soar"... :)

As you could see, we're mixing both funny and serious steps!

Hey im not trying to throw anyone off here. I think when Sasha catches wind of my 12 steps he might throw me off the list!

OK here is # 10! Get a massage or get a stretch therapist to give you a nice 1 hour of work and have them show you some good stretches to be doing. You'll be ahead of the game being so limber! Runners are sucky at the limber thing. Yes that is a real word in the walter dictionary.

From jtshad on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 18:24:56

Nice Walter!

How about #11 (which is somewhat contrary to #4):

Have some food fun and eat some chocolate (in moderation of course!).

From walter on Thu, Sep 04, 2008 at 18:34:48

That is a great one Jeff, so let it be written, so let it be done. I hope I dont get struck by lightning right now. So far so good. I may just have this wrapped up here soon Lucia. Then we can work on the other lists you have for us.

From Lucia on Fri, Sep 05, 2008 at 11:02:01

I don't think the steps can get anyone thrown off the blog! I like #11, Jeff, thank you! How about this for #12: "Plan THE perfect comeback to running! Research well and find the optimal amount and intensity of running for the weeks following your return to running so that you don't get re-injured and come back STRONG"... Thoughts?

From walter on Fri, Sep 05, 2008 at 11:06:53

Sounds like we have a 12 step program here! Whew, that was pretty labor intensive for my brain. Thanks Jeff and Lucia for helping me finish. Ok Now we can start our next one. Bring it on.
