Feeling completely drained of energy today. Called in sick at work cause I literally couldn't get out of bed. I slept in, but still feel very tired, dizzy, and have a headache... I wonder if it could be that I'm allergic to bees? I got stang twice yesterday, but it seems the effects should be gone by now... Managed to get up, dressed, and go to the swimming pool for an hour, but did not have a good workout. Somebody on the blog suggested I should increase my protein intake and I think that may be true - so I went to the supermarket and got some tofu, tempeh, and made an egg scramble. I also need to be better at taking my multi-vitamin every day, and put some flaxseed oil in my food every day. I'm getting really itchy to run. I started running on the shallow part of the pool and it feels great! Less than 30 days to go!!!

Don't forget the Amino Acids (I know they are essentially proteins, but taking them as a suppliment really has helped me get back in order). Also-- it's entirely possible you are having an allergic reaction to the bee stings. Since they tell you to take histimine blockers (benadryl)after you get stung. Allergiess do wipe you out like that. I wouldn't be suprized. Good job on the xtra protein. I probably spent a million dollars at the health food store, but I added flax-seed/fish oil, amino acid and a good calcium to my new diet and it has helped regain some of the stamina I felt I'd lost to red meat. Just thought I'd share in case it helps you too.

Yes- a good multi-vit will help :) Anemia can set in and kick you in the can ;) Protein is very important! Luz- where do you get the amino acid supplemtent? Flax Seed oil A+! Bee stings, D-. Bee (hee hee) ever so careful. Allergic reactions can take up to 72 hours to clear your system, longer if it is serious. Please watch your breathing carfully and get to an emergency room if needed. Where did you get stung? We have severe allergies around our house and I am a little hyper about them ;)

Good luck and way to go with the mermaid transformation! Shall we call you Ariel?

It's called Iron-Tek Essential Liquid Amino Acid (http://www.vitasprings.com/iron-tek-liquid-amino-complex-orange-16-oz-country-life.html ) I got mine at the Good Earth. But I'm sure you can get it anywhere they sell stuff like this.

Have you been check for anemia? I can speak from experiance it is not fun... and it took me about 5 months of high doses of iron to get back to a normal level. Not fun:( so if you suspect it you need to be check as soon as you can so you can.

You know it amazed me that you didnt even mention that you got stung by bees on your hike! I hate those bees that dive bomb on you like that. They hate when you get in their territory or make vibrations on the ground. Do you think the stinger is still in you? Hope you feel better because you have been through alot! How many days are we at until you can run?

From Lucia on Tue, Sep 09, 2008 at 10:13:25

Luz - thanks for the info on the supplements. I'll look into that.

Marion, I got stung in my arm and in my belly! I think it was a yellow jacket and not a bee. She/he was pissed though!

Lori, I've been checked for anemia a few times and it was fine. I donate blood regularly and never had a problem - sorry that you went through that though, sounds awful!

Walter, 27 days and counting, I can't wait! Where's my plan?

This morning I had a rash in some spots, which makes me pretty sure my feeling sick yesterday was caused by an allergic reaction to the bee/wasp/whatever sting...

What is in the air? Apparently it goes clear across the country! Hope you are feeling better today. Way to work out even though you felt yucky. And sorry about the bee stings. I am paranoid of bees and I am not even allergic to them. I used to teach school and the kids would laugh at me when I had recess duty because I was always running around flapping my arms trying to get the bees to go away. They like my hair! Hate those little buggars!

My husband was attacked by a wasp a few years ago and was bit/stung 3 times. His leg got so swollen (the whole thing all the way to the hip) that he couldn't walk. It was pretty bad for a few days. Be careful- the next time it will very likely be worse. If you get into the doc, be sure to mention it so he can prescribe you a epipen to take hiking with you. I know I am an alarmist with allergies- but Aaron and Pepper would feel horrible if you dropped dead while on a leisurely hike one sunday afternoon.

PS- my husband subsequently murdered all of the wasps and their family and friends in the whole neighborhood. He was a madman with a mission. Sort of like when Anakin kills ALL the sandpeople who kidnapped and murdered his mother. You know I'd better go running before I get any weirder!

Awww... sorry you are feeling bad today! I would suggest chicken noodle soup... but.. well, maybe some tempeh noodle soup? I hope you are starting to feel better, but good for you taking the day off!!! Lets do lunch next week...! Talk soon.. sleep well.
