Was supposed to volunteer at a 20-miler, but woke up with a terrible back ache. Not sure if it's from the bike fall or from yesterday's heavy lifting to set up the finish line stuff... or from stress from trying to figure out what the heck to do with my life and career. Thankfully, I hadn't signed up officially to volunteer and was just going to show up, so they were not expecting me. I did some stretches during the day and took a walk around the neighborhood, and it felt a bit better.
On the seventh day till running the scale said to me "You've gained a lot of weight! You need to control your ea-ting ha-abits better unless you want to look like a whaaaaaaaaale!"

Day 1 of back to focusing on nutrition! My goal for the week is to eat healthy and not over-eat as I have been. If I concentrate on eating when I'm hungry and not give in to office treats, I will be back to my normal weight in no time. I'm also going to attend a WeightWatchers meeting on Friday - the first meeting is free so what the heck, I'm going to check it out. Maybe having the incentive of getting weighed in every week and having to face others will get me motivated.
Morning weight: 148. Ouch. That really, really hurt.
Biked to work, 30 min elliptical after work, biked home, walked to Eastern Market with neighbors George and Amanda, walked back home.
Day 1 of focusing of nutrition over and went well. One day at a time, like the very wise Jillzo from the Blog said! |

Day 2 of focusing on nutrition went well. I got some wraps, spinach, tomatoes, hummus and tofu and made wraps both days for lunch, and have leftover for the rest of the week. Snacked on some clementines in the afternoon and made some quesadillas at home.
Biked to work, 5 miles, then after work I biked to the bike shop (16 miles) to take my ride for a few days at the spa (meaning, my bike is getting a tune-up). Then fast-walked the 2.5 miles from the bike shop to the metro and went home - it was pouring when I got home, I got so wet, and I have some leaks in my roof in my room. Ughhhh...
Weight: 147. I cannot believe I'm in the 140s again. It is terrible.
On the 6th day till running the bike shop said to me you need to take better care of your bike You've been riding it a lot more than you used to and it's really suffering a whole lot |

Let's see... what did I do, what did I do... Oh yeah - woke up early and metroed to the gym, did 1 hr elliptical and 15 min. core work and weights. After work, I went to pick up my bike - 2 miles of super fast walking from the metro to the shop, to make sure I made it in time before they closed! Picked up my bike (reunited, and it feels so good!), and biked the 2 miles back to the metro station (it was dark and I didn't have my helmet so I didn't want to ride all the way back home). At the bike shop I picked up a very expensive light that I hope will help me see better when I bike in the dark so I don't get in an accident, some fenders so I don't get so dirty when I ride in the rain, and some other stuff. Unfortunately, on the ride back to the metro I realized I need a new crankset... ouch, that's going to be expensive! I had them change the chain only because I thought the crankset would be OK, but I was wrong! I need to take better care of the chain from now on, since I've been riding it a lot lately.
Day 3 of focusing on nutrition (yesterday) wasn't so good. Day 4 was a little better, but not great. I'm craving eggs and beans, which I think means I need to increase my protein intake... and I need to eat before I'm super hungry. I read this article http://loveyourbody.nowfoundation.org/factsheet3.html and it made me think. I have some habits of several of those "disorders", but none really to an extreme, so maybe that means I'm pretty much normal for a woman... The night eating disorder is definitely the one that jumps at me the most, and I've known it's a problem for me for a while, and consciously try to eat more calories earlier in the day, which really helps. I'm lucky to work close to a pretty good supermarket, and that my office building has plenty of space to store food, so I can just buy stuff and keep it here to eat in the morning, so I don't have to haul it around from home on my bike all the time.
Last but not least, BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE RUNNING THE ST. GEORGE MARATHON!!!! I'll be sending happy thoughts for you, and looking forward to reading your reports so please post them quickly if you can!
On the Fourth day till running Lucia said to the bloggers Have fun at the Saint George Marathon!

| Feeling tired, lots to do in the house. Biked to Crystal City in the morning to pick up the Army Ten Miler package, which I couldn't use, including an upgrade t-shirt that is the smallest Medium size I've ever seen. So sad. |
